Home EV charger handover checklist for Saudi owners

Know what to ask for at home EV charger handover: demonstration, installation records, app access, warranty terms and the right support contact.

Climatech Charger Team October 5, 2026

Before the installer leaves, try the normal charging controls with them and collect the documents for the job. You should know how to use the charger and whom to call if it develops a fault.

Ask for these handover items in the quotation, then use this checklist on completion day. Leave electrical inspection and testing to the qualified installer.

Confirm what has been installed

Keep a record of the charger manufacturer, exact model and serial number. Check that the product and completed work match the quotation. Ask about any changes before accepting them.

Ask the supplier for the applicable product conformity documentation. SASO has a conformity-certificate service for EV chargers and accessories, with requirements that include product safety evidence and operating information. Check the documentation for the exact model you are buying, rather than relying on a logo or a general company claim. SASO conformity service

Also ask who carried out the electrical work and which requirements apply to your site. Product conformity documents do not replace the checks needed for the installation itself. The installer should be appropriately qualified and authorized for the work; SEC's prequalification guidance addresses authorization to perform electrical installation in Saudi Arabia. Try the charger with the installer

Ask the installer to show you how to start and stop charging and store the cable. If your vehicle is available and compatible, include it in the handover demonstration. Ask what the status lights or screen messages mean during ordinary use.

Ask the installer to record the configured charging limit and explain the result you see during the demonstration. The charger's advertised power alone does not tell you what to expect with your car and installation. Keep the explanation with the job records.

If a function cannot be demonstrated that day, write down what remains to be done, who will do it and how you will check it. Do not sign a statement that every item was demonstrated if it was not.

Collect the installation and test records

Collect the agreed completion record and ask the installer to explain the test results. Keep the date, installer and equipment details, and any outstanding items together. Ask them to show you how the charger circuit is identified, without opening the electrical board yourself.

Owners should not remove covers, alter protective devices or change an installer's electrical settings to complete this checklist. Inspection, testing and corrective electrical work belong with qualified personnel. The product manual and applicable site requirements determine the actual tests and design.

Keep the test records as well as the notes from the charging demonstration.

Check who controls the app

If the charger uses an app, check that you can access the device and the functions you paid for. Ask who else has access, including the support team. Keep setup details secure and leave passwords out of shared handover documents.

For Tesla Wall Connector specifically, Tesla describes commissioning, network connection and customer registration as parts of setup. Its Saudi support page also explains customer app access after registration. Other brands have their own process, so the handover should use the manual for the installed product. Ask the installer to demonstrate any charging schedule you intend to use and explain what happens if the site's internet connection is unavailable. Do not assume every model has the same offline functions.

Separate the product warranty from the installation warranty

Get both warranties in writing. Ask who handles a hardware fault and who handles a problem with the installation. Check the cover, exclusions, claim documents and contact details.

Climatech's fieldwork warranty is two years. Product warranty depends on the manufacturer and the chosen product; the quotation and handover documents should identify the applicable terms. Check each set of terms rather than assuming the same duration applies to everything.

Documents to keep

Before closing the job, collect:

  • Agreed quotation, invoice and any approved changes
  • Charger model, serial number and product manual
  • Applicable product conformity documentation
  • Installation completion and test records agreed for the job
  • Configured charging limit and explanation of the demonstrated result
  • Confirmation of owner access to any app or account
  • Product and fieldwork warranty terms, listed separately
  • Support contact and a written list of unresolved items, if any

Keep a copy you can find later, even if you change phones or replace the car.

Planning an installation with Climatech
